Michael Calcagni, DPT

Doctor of Physical Therapy

Dr. Michael “Mike” Calcagni is a Doctor of Physical Therapy based in Narragansett, Rhode Island, where he leads Achilles Physical Therapy — a practice built around personalized, one-on-one care that prioritizes individualized treatment over “assembly-line” rehab.

A magna cum laude graduate of Franklin Pierce University, Mike also studied at University of Rhode Island — combining his academic achievements with a deep passion for movement, function, and healing.

Mike’s clinical philosophy reflects his empathy, creativity, and willingness to “think outside the box.” He approaches each patient uniquely — crafting tailored treatment plans that often incorporate advanced modalities such as dry needling (he was part of the first class certified in Rhode Island) plus specialized rehabilitation protocols. He merges his professional skills with his love for golf — an interest rooted in his background as a competitive, scratch-level golfer with multiple club championships under his belt. He is also certified by the Titleist Performance Institute (TPI), enabling him to deliver golf-specific rehab and performance training for athletes and weekend warriors alike.

Mike was introduced to golf during a family trip to Ireland, where he caddied for his uncle on a local links course. It was his first real exposure to the game, and walking those fairways sparked an interest that stayed with him.

When he returned to the U.S., Mike began learning the game on New York City’s public golf courses. Through the support of The Bob Lowney Foundation, he gained access to course time, practice opportunities, and early guidance that helped him develop his skills.

Practicing on NYC’s municipal courses taught Mike how to work hard, be resourceful, and appreciate the game from the ground up. That foundation carried him into competitive junior golf and eventually to playing at Neumann University.

Those early experiences shaped both his love for golf and his later work helping others improve and stay healthy through programs like Swing Speed RI and his career as a Doctor of Physical Therapy.

Beyond clinical care, Mike is co-founder of Clinical Assessment Solutions, a consulting company dedicated to standardizing functional testing for rare neuromuscular diseases — reflecting his commitment to both high-level clinical care and broader contributions to physical therapy practice and research.

Lauren Calcagni, MSPT

Masters of Science of Physical Therapy

Lauren discovered her passion for her profession early in life. As a dedicated athlete, she faced significant setbacks, including bilateral ACL reconstruction following injuries from years of figure skating and tennis. What could have been a discouraging chapter instead became a pivotal one. Throughout her rehabilitation, she experienced firsthand the impact that skilled, supportive physical therapy can have—not just on recovery, but on confidence and overall well-being. The connection she built with her therapists, the progress she witnessed, and the empowerment she felt throughout the process all left a lasting impression. It was during this journey that she realized she wanted to be part of a profession that helps people rebuild, return, and thrive. From that point forward, she knew physical therapy was the career she was meant to pursue.

Lauren graduated from Northeastern University with a BS in Rehabilitation Science and an MS in Physical Therapy, building a strong foundation rooted in evidence-based practice and patient-centered care. Over the past 19 years, she has developed a wide-ranging clinical background—beginning her career in busy outpatient clinics, later bringing her expertise to skilled nursing and assisted living facilities, and most recently focusing on home-based care where she can offer clients truly personalized attention in their own environments. This breadth of experience has shaped her holistic, adaptable approach to treatment.

She holds certifications in LSVT Big and Loud for Parkinson’s Disease, is a certified Kinesiotaping practitioner, and has completed 200 hours of Prana Vinyasa Yoga training under Coral Brown. These additional specialties allow her to integrate a diverse set of therapeutic techniques, blending traditional physical therapy with complementary movement and neuromuscular practices.

Outside of her professional life, Lauren and her husband Michael are deeply family-oriented. They can often be found with their children at local school activities and community events throughout Narragansett, contributing to and staying connected with the community they call home.
